SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 69. S# 251. Scarce Civil War era saddle ring carbine, compact much like the similar Austrian model imported by the Confederacy. This gun is complete & matching w/ numerous government proofs & bbl. date of 1855. This very distinctive loop cocking hammer functions quite well & am surprised its not seen on many other guns. CONDITION: good to very good overall. Metal is a mixed gray/brown patina w/ pitting. Well fit stock w/ noticeable saddle wear at top edge of left buttstock. Top of buttplate dated 1856 w/ unit markings. Mechanically crisp w/ well defined rifled bore. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Ronald A. Katchuk. (01-16723/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
