Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 9005. Bbl. 29 1/4". All visible numbers match. Rifle mfg. at Danzig Arsenal was given 1905 conversion to utilize standard Mauser stripper clips in place of the original en bloc clip. Receiver bridge modified by riveted on clip guards. Receiver ring has clearance cut for bullet tips. Left rail has been given shallow thumb slot. Left mag. wall has spring loaded cartridge retainer. Clip release has been removed & plated over in trigger guard. Rifle does not have mag. opening cover. Left receiver rail marked in gothic "Gew 88." Receiver ring marked on top w/ "imperial crown" "DANZIG 1890 S." Receiver ring marked on right side w/ imperial proofs "SJ?" Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Inverted "V" front sight. Double slotted cleaning rod. Upper band w/ bayonet lug marked "8. R. J. 3.139.". Lower band has crossed out unit markings. Walnut stock. Stock markings have been rendered obscure due to professional refinish. CONDITION: stock has added coat of lacquer as preservative w/ wear, flaking & scratches. Receiver, trigger guard, bolt & furniture are bright w/ light wear & staining. Bbl. jacket has original blue w/ thinning wear & scattered areas of fine pitting. Bore is shiny w/ strong lands. (01-19374/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
