Colt Army Special Double Action Revolver, #309490, .38 Colt cal. (.38 S&W Long), 4.5'' barrel, high polish blue finish, factory checkered hard rubber grips, with factory letter verifying all features, shipped June 10, 1909, to Walter G. Clark Co., Omaha, NE, one gun in shipment. Along with remnants of a newspaper article from the Sunday Magazine, Omaha World-Herald, dated 1939, and a full copy of the article, relating the story of Frank Erdman, an escaped convict from a Colorado Penitentiary, who planted this revolver and a large number of sticks of dynamite at the home of his ''mortal enemy'' Tom Dennison, a political party leader. The article recounts the details of the trial and scientific research by a Father Rigge to help solve the case. Also included are photos of the revolver, and a receipt dated 1911 from the Clerk of the District Court, State of Nebraska, listing Frank Erdman as the defendant in the case. Condition of the revolver is excellent retaining approx. 96% thinning factory blue, with most of the losses to muzzle and backstrap. Grips and action are crisp, bore is mirror bright.
