Civil War Era Starr Arms Co. Model 1858 Double Action Army Percussion Revolver, #5543, .44 cal., 6'' barrel with a dovetailed blade front sight; solid frame with integral gripstraps is marked ''Starr Arms Co. New York'' on left side and ''Starr's Patent Jan. 15, 1856'' on right; plain 6-shot round cylinder features 12 flat-oval locking stops and nipples protruding from back; oil-stained one-piece walnut grips. This revolver was likely sold on the civilian market, as no government inspector stamps are visible. Condition is very good as possibly refinished in full blue over scattered light peppering; markings are sharp. Grips are sound and smooth, showing a small nick out at left bottom and minor knackering at butt. Action functions in single action; double action and cylinder lock-up are sloppy; bore is mostly clean with deep rifling. Est.: $400-$800. (Antique)
