Civil War Era Remington New Model Army Percussion Revolver, #121486, .44 cal., 8" octagonal barrel marked "Patented Sept. 14, 1858/E. Remington & Sons, Ilion N.Y. U.S.A./New Model" on top flat and "W" on both sides at frame juncture, has hinged loading lever below marked "G"; plain round 6-shot cylinder is marked "G" between two nipples and "121486" at rear face; solid frame is marked "S" at left hammer screw and "W" at right breech, has separate brass trigger guard, integral gripstraps, 2-pc. oil-finished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1863-75 in full blued finish with case hardened hammer. Condition is very good retaining no original finishes but overall smooth gunmetal gray, showing scattered cleaned light erosion and a 1.75"x2" patch of pitting to cylinder. Grips likely have been sanded and re-oiled (right panel fits undersized). Edges and markings are fine; inspector's cartouche is missing from left grip. Action is crisp, bore is clean showing light frosting and sharp rifling. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
