CROSS BELT PLATE & 2 SWORDS.
1) 60TH CROSS BELT PLATE. A brass oval plate measuring 3 1/4" x 2 1/8". Plate is hand engraved w/ a crown over "60" over "3". The crown appears to be possibly English but the quality of the plate indicates possible mfg. in an English colony. The plate shows mfg. techniques typical of the early 1800s but we cannot assign a concrete date to the plate. CONDITION: plate shows a partially cleaned, mottled patina on the front w/ a darker overall patina on the back. Wear does appear throughout the plate. (02-13363/BF). 2) HUNTING SWORD. Overall length: 30 7/8". Blade length: 25 1/2". Plain blade w/ a sm. fuller at the spine running for 18". There is a fleur de lis like stamp on each side of the blade, though 1 is barely visible. Brass hilt w/ down turned scallop shell guard. Knuckle bow & pommel cap are decorated. Quillon is missing. Reeded wood grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows a light gray lightly mottled, cleaned finish. Brass has a somewhat mellow patina. There is a sm. break near the top of the knuckle bow. Grip shows moderate wear. (02-13378/BF). 3) HANGER TYPE SWORD. Overall length: 30 1/4". Blade length: 24 3/8". Plain blade stamped at the ricasso w/ a broad arrow over "S" on 1 side & "LS" over "1986" on the other. Iron S shaped guard, ferrule & pommel. Shaped wood grip. German silver mounted leather scabbard w/ pewter button replacing missing frog stud. A difficult sword to identify but it appears to show mid 1800s mfg. techniques. Scabbard has questionable association w/ the sword but fits very well. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish. Iron has a medium to dark patina. Grip shows scuffs & scrapes but no major damage. Scabbard is a bit flexed & shows scattered scuffs & scrapes. (02-13391/BF). $700-1,000.
