Cal. 22 LR. S# SM4520. Bbl. 5". Mfg. 1945 (1935-1945) as service pistol training aid utilizing floating chamber designed by D.M. "Carbine" Williams to increase 22 LR recoil approximately 4 times to replicate 45 ACP. Coltwood Type 7 ribbed grips w/ large rings. Parkco-Lubrite (parkerized) finish. Type 4 serrated front sight & Stevens adj. rear. 7 Rib arched mainspring housing correctly w/out lanyard loop or provision for same. Correct checkered hammer & safety tab w/out milling undercut. Slide stop serrated; correct would be checkered. "G.H.D." proofed. Left front of trigger guard has "e" over VP proof; opposite side has "77". Uncommonly Marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" above S#. MAGS: 1 good 10 rd. w/ correct aluminum follower & Ace Service Model marked pinned base. Sm. spots of light oxidation on right side near spine. 1" area of heavy oxidation on left side on bottom half near spine. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: good, brown, Sears 1942 dated flap holster w/ US in oval on front. Web belt hooks on back along w/ belt loop having unused appearance. CONDITION: very good overall appearance w/ some very slight high point thinning; most visible on slide near muzzle, trigger guard & butt area. Light scratch on frame through finger recess due to improper slide stop installation. Slight impact marks around front sight; especially face. Two symmetrical rub marks on top of slide just behind front sight & perpendicular to bore. Slide appears original finish, but frame is re-parkerized. Slight wear on tops of grip screws; very good to excellent grips; near excellent bore. (20-310/NW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
