Cal. 45 ACP. S# 728542. Bbl. 5". Shipped April 30, 1941 to Springfield Armory; 2500 units. Boxed "RS" inspector mark by slide stop & on top of frame by disconnector. Original Colt brushed blue finish w/ 2 tone slide appearance. Trigger guard w/ "VP" & "T" on left plus "99" on right. Per Harrison's book, all correct features w/ Type 3 coarse checkered arched mainspring housing having 27 diamonds (not 32). Colt Type 6 bbl. w/ "G" in front of legs. Slide numbered 728537 (not 728542) under firing pin stop. Normal grips are checkered walnut Type 3 or Coltrock Type 4; fitted w/ Coltwood Type 5 having sm. rings & mold #'s. MAGS: 1 very good Colt all blued unmarked 7 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Oct. 24, 2018 dated Colt research letter. CONDITION: good to very good overall appearance w/ thinning finish & holster like high point wear. Hand wear in grip area; grip safety likely replacement w/ vivid blue. Sides of frame under grips appear cleaned of oxidation w/ minimal finish. Occasional light marks including from improper slide stop installation. Portions of front half of slide & frame dust cover have slight spots of cleaned oxidation. Noticeable exterior bbl. functional wear; fair evenly pitted & worn bore. Light peening on 1 bbl. leg. Good plus grips w/ more wear on left. (21-16/NW). CURIO. $1,500-2,000.
