REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Colt CF. S# 182370. Standard configuration w/ 8" rnd. bbl., German silver trimmed front sight & 1 line New York U.S. America address. “COLTS PATENT” marked on left side of frame & 44CAL stamped on rear left of trigger guard. The conversion was performed by cutting original percussion cyl. & fitting w/ patent Thuer conversion ring which has 2 line patent markings & script “E” for eject. Matching assembly marks “S” & “28” are found on both cyl. & conversion ring. The brass trigger guard & steel backstrap contain a varnished walnut grip. These 1869-1872 cartridge conversions were very popular, reliable & profitable for Colt leading to the introduction of the Single Action Army Era, Percussion Colt production ends. CONDITION: good overall, all matching & original, iron overall a mottled gray patina w/ pitting, bbl. address weak, but other markings all discernible. Patent markings on conversion ring are added. Grips worn, heavy edge wear, traces of original varnish. Mechanically fine w/ good rifled bore. (01-17459/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
