COLT LIGHTNING LARGE FRAME, SLIDE ACTION RIFLE.
Cal. 40-60-260. S# 6404. Bbl. 28” oct. w/ rolled Colts address & patent information on top flat fitted w/ semi-buckhorn rear & silver blade front sight. Caliber engraved at rear of top left flat. Full length mag. tube. Large frame action has rampant colt stamp on left side. S# on bottom tang. Buttstock of relatively plain American walnut features steel crescent butt. Wooden slide handles checkered. CONDITION: fair to good. Bbl. & mag. tube have remnants of original blue. Action is mostly gray to brown patina w/ traces of blue at rear. Bolt retains most of its blue, trigger guard has about 10%. Stocks have remnants of original finish, oil added, w/ a plethora of marks, nicks & dings. There are some chips in buttstock near action rear side of top tang & a few others in slide handle. Checkering is worn. Bore is poor to fair (might clean). One screw is missing on left side of action. Stock is loose on action. (01-17496/MGM127). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
