Cal. 44. S# 16545. Bbl. 7 1/2” oct. to rnd. w/ 1 line New York address. Standard configuration w/ 4 screw frame cut for shoulder stock. Frame is marked on left side “COLTS / PATENT / US”. Sm. sub inspector marks are found on several parts. Bbl. is fitted w/ a 3 position 2 leaf rear sight & German silver blade front sight. This is a solid, original example of a dragoon made in 1858, just prior to the Civil War that has seen use & was cared for. CONDITION: good to very good overall. Appears complete & matching w/ no discerned restoration, serial numbers matching throughout including wedge & loading arm, grips were not removed to check for serial number but they appear original & well fit, iron overall has mottled gray patina, brass has been cleaned & has a light mustard color, cyl. has no discernable scene, grips have heavy edge wear, chips at both inner toes, there is no discernable inspectors cartouche, mechanically fine w/ crisp rifled bore.
