ASSOCIATION, FULLY LOADED. Cal. 44. S# 30690. This is a honest “as found” four screw Colt Army issued in 1861, carved on bottom of grips “MELVIN / IRVINE”. There is only one Union soldier listed in Union Army w/ last name Irvine & first initial M, database lists his name as Marvine. Irvine who enlisted in June 1864 at Camp Nelson KY, in the 114th Colored Troops as a private, no other information available. This gun as found is fully loaded w/ original Colt balls & bullets. CONDITION: good to very good overall, has a mottled gray patina w/ good markings including one line New York address & matching serial numbers though wedge is unnumbered but appears original. Exhibits moderate muzzle wear, cyl. retains 5 usable safety pins & much of its rolled cyl. seam is discernable. Grips have hand worn patina w/ cartouche visible in outline only on left side. Mechanically fine, w/ crisp rifled bore. (01-17119/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
