MUSKET. Cal. 58. NSN. Bbl. 39 1/2". This is an attic condition Model 1861 "U.S. / BRIDESBURG" marked lock dated "1862" w/ matching "1862" bbl. date. Inspector cartouches not visible but folky carving is found on left side of buttstock. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: bayonet. CONDITION: good overall. Metal dark gray/brown mixed patinas. Complete & original, other than broken front sight. Enfield bayonet was found attached as well as “Waterville Arsenal” marked sling. Mechanically fine w/ discernable dark rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Dan Poppen. (01-17299/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
