Cal. 56-50. S# 35950. This is an honest example of the most popular Civil War used carbine w/ over 90,000 purchased by the government. Cavalry units from Michigan, New York, Wisconsin, Indiana, Connecticut, New Jersey, Ohio & Massachusetts were equipped w/ Spencer carbines. Standard configuration 22" bbl., marked on receiver flat "SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS / PAT'D MARCH 6 1860". CONDITION: good overall. Appears all original & matching. Sling swivel in butt is attached w/ nail. Metal overall is a mottled gray patina. Breech address is mostly discernable. Stocks are well fit, refinished w/ scattered cosmetic blemishes. Buttstock has several long longitudinal cracks. Mechanics fine w/ well defined rifled bore showing pitting. (01-17147/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
