SERIAL NUMBER N/A BARREL 8" CALIBER .22 RIFLED BLACK POWDER MANUFACTURED CIRCA, 1840'S. Parisian gunsmith Beatus Beringer developed this unique swivel breech percussion system and produced arms in Paris from 1835 to 1869. Blue finished octagon barrel with fine rifled bore. White metal frame with floral scroll engraving. External hammer with internal striker ignites a tradition pistol size percussion cap. Varnished fluted carved grip with fitted iron but cap. Pistols are not numbered or signed. Beringer pistols have been observed as small bore target pistols such as these up to larger 11mm conventional belt pistols. This matched pair comes with the small dual cavity mold with sprue cutter, contemporary capper, long spanner for possible loading and cap container. CONDITION. Both pistols are very fine with most blue finish remaining on the barrels. The receivers are very fine with crisp engraving. The stocks are very fine with one pistol having a period repair. The case is very good with excellent lining and accessories. The blade for the turn screw in not present. ANTIQUE
