SERIAL NUMBER 16752 BARREL 30 1/2" CALIBER 12 GAUGE MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1860. Elegant vivid Damascus barrels with center rib marked " JOSEPH MANTON NEW IMPROVEMENTS BY HIS MAGESTY PATENT". Underside has serial number 16752 on both barrels and British proofs. One piece varnished walnut stocks with steel butt plate , checkered at wrist and fore arm with engraved steel trigger guard and pip guide. Both locks are modestly English scroll engraved with " JOSEPH MANTON PATENT" at lower edges. Both hammers have the Manton replaceable striker cups intact. Shotgun is housed in a period partitioned oak case. CONDITION. Very fine with superb bright Damascus bores and crisp legends. The action of the locks operate properly. The stock is very good with some period of use bruises and impressions. The case is totally refinished and relined. This would be a joy to go shoot. ANTIQUE
