POCKET POLICE REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 21518. Bbl. 4 1/2" w/ 1 line New York address. 1 Piece ivory grips. This gun was made at the height of the Civil War in mid 1863. S# has an "E" beneath most parts showing factory engraving. Engraving is typical Arabesque scrolls w/ punch dot backgrounds. A blank panel on backstrap would have held inscription. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: mahogany case w/ blank shield shape escutcheon in lid. 2 cavity mold marked "COLT'S PATENT". Sm. civilian brass powder flask. Eley cap tin & loose balls. CONDITION: good, metal is gray overall w/ staining, light pitting, engraving well discerned as on backstrap & trigger guard. All S#s match w/ exception of arbor, which is numbered "13419". Cyl. has indiscernible S# & wedge is unnumbered. 1 Piece certifiable antique elephant ivory grips have good age patina. Mechanics function but sluggish. Bore has well defined rifling. Casing is very good overall. Colt's Patent mold is very good w/ traces of blue. Mechanically functional w/ discernable rifled bore. (01-17287/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
