Badge, British India, North-Western Railway (NWR) Badge for Efficient Service, Bronze, Obv: a circular badge surmounted by a British crown featuring a locomotive within wreath “NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY” above and “FOR EFFICIENCY” below, Rev: numbered ‘259’, pin to wear, 23.36g, 38.16mm, about extremely fine, Rare.
Note: An attractive die-struck badge, awarded to NWR employees during the inter-war years. Created in 1886 by merging many local lines, the NWR was one of British-India's largest railway systems, and played a strategic role as it carried military personnel and supplies to the NW Frontier of India. Post-1947, it was divided between India and Pakistan.
