Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 263. Bbl. 23 1/8". Receiver marked on left side "MOD. 98". Receiver ring marked on top "dot 1944". All visible numbers match except buttplate & rear sight slide. Receiver marked on right side w/ 2 eagle "63". Marked on left side w/ eagle proof. Bbl. has 2 faint eagle markings ahead of S#. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000m. Inverted V front sight. Bayonet bar is present. Stamped trigger guard w/ removable floorplate. Locking screws are replacement. Laminated stock set w/ flat buttplate & steel takedown hole. Has correct period leather sling. CONDITION: stock has arsenal rework type gloss finish obscuring original markings. Metal finish has been enhanced w/ added finish, notably from rear sight forward w/ wear & handling marks. Near excellent shiny bore. (20-835/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
