Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 CE), Gold Dinar, “Archer” and Crescent above Garuda type, Obv: the king standing facing the left, nimbate, holding a longbow in his left hand and an arrow in his right, wearing a royal diadem, with a filleted Garuda standard in the left field and a crescent on Garuda's head, the Brahmi legend “Samudra" below the king's arm, a circular Brahmi legend “(Apratiratho vijitya kshitim) sucharitair divam jayati” around the field, Rev: the goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on a high backed throne, whose four legs are clearly visible, with her feet resting on a circular mat below, a diadem and a cornucopia in her hands, a tamgha on the top-left field, the Brahmi legend “Apratirathah" (Matchless Chariot Warrior) on the right field, a dotted border around the field, 7.8g, 21.93mm, (Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. VI-1/TGE, S. Kumar # Class I -Var. C.2), obverse partially double-struck, choice quality, about extremely fine, Very Rare.

Note: This coin contains a crescent symbol above the Garuda standard, which contributes to its rarity. A clear indication of the Indianization of the Gupta coinage can be seen in the shift from the standard type to the archer type.
