Antique Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle, #200841B, .38 WCF (.38-40) cal., blued 28'' octagonal barrel with block-blade front and adjustable open rear sights marked with the Winchester name, address and King's Improvement patent dates in two lines ahead of rear sight, and ''38 W.C.F.'' behind; full-length magazine tube; steel receiver marked ''Model 1873'' on top tang and serial number on lower tang, missing the ejection port dustcover; steel operating lever, nosecap and crescent buttplate with sliding cover opening to butt trap for jointed cleaning rod (not present); oil-stained walnut forend and buttstock. Mfg'd 1886. Condition is very good, the barrel retaining approx. 85% thin original blue mixing with a brown patina (nicks near front sight, edge dings on flats near breech), the balance of the metal a smooth gunmetal gray-brown (traces of blue in protected areas of receiver). Stocks are smooth and solid showing nice grain and color (dings halfway down left side of forearm and bottom at receiver). Action is smooth; bore is clean with deep rifling. A desirable '73 with its long 28'' barrel. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
