Antique Marlin Model 1893 Lever Action Rifle, #119260, .25-36 M CF cal., blued 26'' octagonal barrel, with dovetailed blade front and buckhorn rear sights, is marked with maker's name, address and 1887-88-93 patent dates in two lines on top flat, and ''25-36 M'' at breech; tubular cartridge magazine; case hardened receiver with side ejection is marked ''Marlin Safety'' on top, ''Model/1893'' on upper tang and serial number at lower front; loop operating lever; varnished walnut forearm with steel nose cap, matching buttstock with steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1895. Condition is very good. Barrel, mag tube and nose cap retain no original blue but an overall smooth brown patina with sharp edges and markings; receiver, hammer, lever and buttplate have mostly darkened/silvered out. Stocks are sound and smooth showing light marks of age and use, a 2'' crack and filler at stock comb (where wood was once removed to accommodate a folding tang sight, now missing), and perhaps a thin later coat of varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with deep rifling. The Model 1893 was the first Marlin rifle chambered for the then-new smokeless powder cartridges. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
