Antique Gasser Model 1870 Double Action Military Revolver, by Leopold Gasser of Wien, Austria, #43339, 11.3x36mmR CF cal., 7" round barrel marked "T/(lion head?)/1871" on top flat, "L. Gasser/Wien" and "43339" at left, has tall blade front and notched rear sights, right-side ejector rod with tightening turn-screw, retaining screw at bottom; plain round 6-shot cylinder marked "(crown)/43339"; open-top frame marked "43339" at left, has right-side hinged loading gate and long safety-bar, separate loop trigger guard, integral bag-shaped gripstraps with lanyard ring at butt, 2-pc. checkered walnut grips. This large, rugged military revolver was mfg'd ca. early 1880s, being used by the Austro-Hungarian Cavalry in the Boxer Rebellion and into WWI. Condition is fine retaining approx. 70% thinning original blue, smooth metal, sharp edges and markings. Sound grips show highpoint wear to checkering. Action is strong and crisp; bore is bright showing mild frosting toward muzzle and sharp rifling. A scarce military revolver. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
