Antique English ''Tower'' Percussion Blunderbuss, altered from flintlock, NVSN, approx. .60 cal., 16'' iron barrel made without sights marked ''176'' on top, and bells to 1.75'' at muzzle; large military style lockplate with a long pointed tail is marked ''(crown)/GR'' and a smaller ''(crown)/broad arrow'' ahead of hammer, ''B. Zabala'' at front, and ''Tower'' in a vertical curve ahead of ''176'' at rear; brass furniture including serpentine sideplate, triggerguard, buttplate with long top tang, and a single long fluted ferrule retaining the iron button-tip ramrod; oil-finished European hardwood fullstock. Condition is good to very good. Iron parts show an overall gunmetal gray color with scattered discoloration and clear markings, the brass with light patina. Stock shows scattered dings from age and use, a gouge on left sideplate apron, wood patches on both sides halfway down the forearm, a hole drilled through at toe (perhaps for a sling swivel, now missing), and nice grain. Action is very strong; bore is clean with scattered etching. Est.: $500-$900. (Antique)
