Made By The Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois. The Old Sleepy Eye pitchers are quite fascinating! These pitchers were produced by the Western Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois, from around 1906 to 19371. They were named after a Sioux Indian Chief, Old Sleepy Eye, and were originally promotional items for the Sleepy Eye Milling Company1.
The pitchers typically feature a blue and white design with the chief’s head in the center, a tree to the left, and a teepee to the right1. They came in various sizes, ranging from 4 inches to 9 inches in height2.
