Ancient Southern Panchala/Kanauj region - post-Mauryan die-struck monarchical coinage, copper coin of Pushyabhuti, a hitherto unknown ruler, (c.100-50 BC), not listed in PAIC, 3.97g. Obv: A row of symbols - tree-in-railing, hare jumping over crescent moon and caduceus; Brahmi legend Pusabhutisa below. Rev: Indistinct but a bold caduceus symbol to right.

Very fine, Extremely rare.

Pushyabhuti adds a new name to the repertoire of kings known from a very rare series of local coins first collected by Alexander Cunningham in and around Kanauj.
