Ancient Western Malwa, die-struck lead coin of post-Mauryan period of 'Pusyamitra' (200-150 BC), 9.88g. Obv: 'Symbolic composition of a bull facing left, a tree-in-railing, a taurine and a triangle-headed standard. Rev: Double wavy line with fishes in between, 'Ujjain' symbol above it; brahmi legend Pusami to left and tasa to right, indistinctly visible.

Very fine+, Very rare

It is plausible that the 'Pusamita' mentioned on this coin is the same as 'Pushyamitra' the Sunga ruler. However, the name does not have a royal title attached to it and it would be odd for a powerful king like Pushyamitra Sunga not to mention it on his coins.
