Obv: Traces of tree and Swastika & brahmi legend Majhimikaya Shibi Janapadasa reading anticlockwise outwards from 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock. Rev: Traces of six-arched hill. Handa 'Tribal Coins', Pl. Very fine, Extremely rare.

The Shibis find many references in ancient Indian literature such as the Vedas, Aitareya Brahmana and The Mahabharata. Their state was centred on Madhyamika, identified with Nagari near Chittaurgarh in Mewar, where their coins have been found in excavations. The grammarian Patanjali mentions Madhyamika as one of the cities besieged by the Yavanas. Perhaps, a Scythian invasion in late 1st century BC contributed to the fall of the Shibi state.
