Terracotta sealing for regulating entry, from upper Betwa Valley, (c.150-100 BC), 66.11g, Width: 50.63mm, Height: 50.94mm - 'Taurine in a crescent' symbol in the centre, with Brahmi legend Pavesono Deyakasa around.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

The central symbol is found on many punch-marked coins from the Vidisha region, sometimes attributed to the 'Kanva' dynasty. The legend might translate as 'to be given on entry/to be allowed entry' so it is possible that the sealing might have acted as an ancient 'passport'.
