Ancient Saketa region - monarchical cast coinage of Ayodhya area, 'bull' type coin of Shivadatta (c.150-100 BC), not listed in PAIC, 2.04g. Obv: Bull standing facing left over a platform, triangle-headed standard and 'Ujjain' symbol to left, Swastika near the hump and Nandipada behind; Brahmi legend Shivadatasa above. Rev: Tree-in-railing in centre, Ankusha over a damaru-shaped pillar to right, Swastika above it; a goddess standing holding a taurine over a lotus to right and wavy line below.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

This is a new type in the monarchical coinage of Ayodhya. The reverse has an interesting symbolic configuration and in spite of being a cast coin, this piece is in a superb state of preservation.
