Pre-Islamic Bengal-Samatata region, gold dinar of Sridharana Rata of Rata dynasty (c.664-675 AD), ECB SAM15.1, 4.69g. Obv: Stylized representation of a nimbate 'archer' type king, holding bow in one hand and arrow in the other, with a crudely executed 'Shankha' standard in the backdrop and Brahmi letter Shri to the left of the head; Brahmi letter Shri below the hand with bow. Rev: Stylized representation of goddess, facing right, making a gesture of reassurance, with curved lines (drapery?) behind her back; crude inscription to right.

Very fine, Very rare.

This coin is of a much lower weight than other issues of Sridharana Rata, but it does not appear to be tampered with in any way. It is possible that it represents a different denominational standard.
