Pallavas of Kanchipuram, alloyed Copper coin attributed to Mahendravarman I (580-630 AD), with title 'Pakapituku', Krishnamurthy - Pallavas, p. 156, no. 277, 1.16g. Obv: Bull to right with Brahmi legend …pituku above. Rev: A boar standing, facing right.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

The simultaneous occurrence of two dynastic emblems (the bull of the Pallavas and the boar of the Chalukyas) on this coin has been explained by Krishnamurthy as an indication of Mahendravarman's victory over his adversary, the Chalukya ruler Pulakesi II (610-642 'AD).
