Lesser Satavahanas of Banavasi - 'lion' type lead coin of Sivalananda (c.200-250 AD), not published in PAIC, 4.38g. Obv: majestic maned lion standing facing left with tail curled above its back, Shrivatsa symbol to left; Brahmi legend Raño Sivalanandasa above. Rev: tree in railing with ribbons attached; four symbols around - clockwise from top left, a Damaru, a Shrivatsa, a strung bow and arrow and fourth symbol is indistinct.

Good Very fine, Very rare.

An extremely rare type of the lesser Satavahana ruler Sivalananda, issued probably in regions adjoining the area ruled by Maharathis who struck 'lion'-type coins. It corresponds to similar coins issued by Chutukulananda.
