Kidarite Huns - base gold stater/dinara of Shri Bhanu… (c.400-450 AD), unpublished in major sources, 7.94g. Obv: Kushana style king standing, holding a standard and offering sacrifice, a trident with ribbons in the background; Brahmi legend Kodara inscribed vertically under the arm and letter Sha/Shra to left. Rev: Stylized representation of seated Ardoksho holding cornucopia, Brahmi legend Shri Bhanu… to right.

Extremely fine, Exceedingly rare.

The coin is stylistically very similar to other Hunnic issues with legend 'Kritavirya', 'Salanavira' etc However, the legend on the reverse appears to begin with 'Bha na' or 'Bhanu'. Most likely this is a previously unknown type.
