Gupta Empire, gold dinar of Samudra Gupta (350-375 AD), 'King and Queen' type, S.Kumar Class II, var A3, 7.78g. Obv: King and Queen, both nimbate, standing facing each other with crescent in between; the king wears tunic and trousers and hold a crescent-topped standard, while making a gesture of adoration to the queen. The queen stands in a Tribhanga pose wearing ear, neck and arm ornaments and an Indian costume of loose upper and lower garments. Brahmi legend Chandra Gupta on either side of the standard. Rev: Nimbate goddess seated on couchant lion, facing left, holding cornucopia and diadem or noose. A long staff is placed to her right, Brahmi legend Lichchhawayah in the right field and tamgha to the left of her head.

About extremely fine, Very rare.

Altekar attributes the 'King and Queen' type to Chandra Gupta I and does not categorize it further in Class or Variety details as he does for other Gupta coins. The main classificatory features of this coin include the presence of the crescent between the king and queen. The lion on the reverse faces either left or right.
