Gold ring from South India, of Brahminic affiliation, with baby Hanuman on a diamond-shaped bezel, Chalukya period, (c.600-700 AD), 8.97g.

Extremely rare.

Hanuman here is shown chasing the rising sun, following the mythical story that soon after his birth, the little god mistook the sun for a fruit and jumped at it, chasing it sky-high with his astonishing prowess. Puranic stories became very popular in Chalukya times and often found popular representation, like this one.
