City state issues of Ancient North India of the post-Mauryan period, (c.200-150 BC) - die-struck copper coin of 'Purisha', a hitherto unknown city state in Eastern Malwa, unpublished and of high significance, 4.33g. Obv: 'Ujjain’ symbol and Brahmi legend Purisho. Rev: blank.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

The type and fabric of the coin is very similar to the coins of Tripuri, a city-state located in the upper Narmada Valley. Most likely, 'Purisha’ was located in the same region. The name is a cognate of 'Purusha' meaning the Universal Male Principle.
