Apramāda (अमाद) refers to “carefulness (established in faithful effort)” and means "conscientious" or "concern". It refers to being careful and vigilant in what we adopt and avoid. It is one of the eleven virtuous mental factors in Mahayana Abhidharma teachings and it is one of the four dharma practices through which the works of Māra, the Buddhist anti-god, are overcome.
