Ayodhya - post-Mauryan monarchical cast copper coin of Gomitra, (c.150-100 BC), 2.10g. Obv: bull standing facing left on a pedestal, 'Ujjain' symbol and triangle-headed standard in its front, Swastika over the back; Brahmi legend Gomitasa above. Rev: tree-in-railing in the centre, wavy line below, sacrificial post (yupa) in a railing to left; goddess standing on a lotus with one hand akimbo to right.
Good very fine, Very rare.
This is an exceptionally well-preserved copper coin of Gomitra, who was probably the earliest of the post-Mauryan kings of Ayodhya to issue cast copper coins bearing his name.
