Ancient India: Archaic silver punch-marked coin - Middle Ganga Valley, usually attributed to Kashi J
Archaic silver punch-marked coin - Middle Ganga Valley, usually attributed to Kashi Janapada (c.600-400 BC), ½ Vimshatika standard, Rajgor series 52 (identified as 1½ Shana standard), 2.14g. Obv: One large punch of complex Jali pattern around a circle and some ancillary marks. Rev: Blank.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

The 'Kashi' series fractions are extremely rare varieties of archaic punch-marked coinage. They most probably served as subsidiary denominations of the larger 'scyphate' fabric coins, struck to the full Vimshatika standard.
