Archaic silver punch-marked coin, Gomti-Ghagra River Valley region, usually attributed to Ayodhya Janapada (c.600-400 BC), Vimshatika standard, similar to MATEC 2167-2182, 4.93g. Obv: One large punch of 'six curves around a bold dot’ symbol and a side punch of bull. Rev: Blank.
Good Very fine, Exceedingly rare.
The 'Ayodhya' series is one of the rarest of North Indian archaic punch-marked series with very few surviving specimens known.
Similar coin was sold in 2011 in Baldwin's Auction 71, Lot no. 1246 at hammer 1,200 GBP
