Archaic silver punch-marked coin, Bihar region, generally attributed to 'Magadha Janapada', struck to ½ Shatamana standard, Rajgor Series 9/10, 5.46g. Obv: Three main punches - 1. Sun, 2. Six-armed symbol, 3. Large dot with six small pellets arranged in rows; plus one small ancillary mark. Rev: Plain.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
This is a curious coin which falls between Rajgor Series 9 and 10 with only three punches. It is possible that it is an example of a 'bridging type' between the two series, the latter of which was designated as 'Series 0' by Hardaker.
