Ancient South Malwa, Narmada Valley - uninscribed die-struck alloyed copper coin, (c.150-100BC), with symbolic configuration on both sides, not listed in Pieper or Mitchiner, 9.47g. Obv: tree-in-railing, six arched hill with crescent and open cross. Rev: wavy line, tree, five arched hill surmounted by two water-pots, a stylized treskelis with alternating damarus between prongs and a taurine.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
Although the coin is uninscribed, its fabric and style match closely with city issues of Mahishmati, Tripuri and Madavika. In all probability, it was issued by yet another city-state of the Narmada valley.
