Ancient Malwa - post-Mauryan punch-marked copper coin, localized series, Ujjain region, (c.250-200 BC), not listed in PAIC but similar to MIGIS type 1184, 2.79g. Obv: Three punches - 1. Elephant marching to left, 2. Wheel with double rim, 3. Flower-bud on three-arched hill. Rev: Blank.

Very fine, Extremely rare.

An extremely rare and unusual type of local punch-marked coinage, unpublished apart from Mitchiner where he illustrates a hitherto unique specimen from his own collection. This coin appears to be a fractional issue of the same type.
