Ancient Malwa, post-Mauryan inscribed die-struck coinage, Central region, alloyed copper coin of Vijayamitra, a local ruler, (250-200 BC), 9.44g. Obv: Diademed Greek-style bust facing right; traces of Brahmi legend Vijayamita to the right. Rev: Three-arched hill with crescent and Swastikas in each arch.

Oxidation, Very fine, Rare.

Coins of Vijayamitra evidently follow an Indo - Greek prototype, most likely that of Archebios the successor of Antialkidas. It is interesting to note that an inscription of Heliodorus, the emissary of Antialkidas is also known from Vidisha in Central Malwa.
