Ancient Malwa - post-Mauryan uninscribed die-struck copper coin of Ujjain/Mandasor area, (c.250-200BC), not listed in PAIC, 1.07g. Obv: Lakshmi wearing large earrings and topknot standing facing on a lotus bloom, holding on to two long stemmed lotuses that emerge from it. Rev: 'Ujjain' symbol with taurines in quadrants within a rectangular border.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

Usually, such depictions of Lakshmi would have elephants surmounting the lotuses on the side - however on this coin, there are no such traces, which makes it an highly unusual yet schematically beautiful representation of the goddess.
