DEMO LOT
Ancient Malwa, Ujjain region, post-Mauryan uninscribed die-struck copper coin, 'standing man' type, (200-150 BC), struck from bar copper, unlisted in major publications, 8.77 g. Obv: 'Ujjain'-symbol, a tree-in-railing, and a standing man, wearing matted hair in a bun, and carrying staff and water-pot. Rev: Blank.
Extremely fine, Rare.
The execution of the standing man is stylistically comparable to that seen on inscribed coins with legends 'Bhanumita' and 'Jinhumita'. Most likely, it is antecedent to such inscribed issues bearing names of local rulers.
