Ancient Malwa, Ujjain/Mandasor region, post-Mauryan inscribed die-struck copper coin of Jinhumita (Jishnumitra), (250-200 BC), not listed in Pieper, 6.69g. Obv: Stylistically executed human figure, standing facing holding a staff and a water-pot, traces of a river symbol below; Brahmi legend (Ra)ño Jeenhumitasa above.

Very fine+, Very rare.

The earliest of inscribed indigenous coin-types were produced in Malwa by local post-Mauryan monarchies. Jinhumita was probably one such ruler in the Ujjain/Mandasor region. The palaeography of the letters suggests a period not far removed from Mauryan/Asokan inscriptions.
