DEMO LOT
Ancient Malwa, Central region, post-Mauryan uninscribed punch-marked copper coin, (200-150 BC), not listed in Pieper, 4.31g. Obv: Four punches, tree-in-railing, radiate lotus, semicircular pond with two fishes with taurines above and 'Ujjain’ symbol with Swastikas and taurines alternating in orbs. Rev: The same four punches as obverse.
Very fine, Very rare.
The 'semicircular pond' symbol suggests that the coin might plausibly be attributed to the city state of Kurapurika (identified with modern Kurwai), even though it has no legends.
