DEMO LOT
Ancient Malwa, Central region, post-Mauryan inscribed die-struck coinage, alloyed copper coin of Vijayamitra, a local ruler, (250-200 BC), 9.66g. Obv: Diademed Greek-style bust facing right; traces of Brahmi legend Vijayamita ro the right. Rev: Three-arched hill with crescent and Swastikas in each arch.
About extremely fine, Extremely rare.
Coins of Vijayamitra evidently follow an Indo-Greek prototype, most likely that of Archebios the successor of Antialkidas. It is interesting to note that an inscription of Heliodorus, the emissary of Antialkidas is also known from Vidisha in Central Malwa.
